My objective is to ensure that young professionals are having the required skills to succeed on the job in line with the National Skill India Initiative of our Honourable PM.

Have an indepth knowledge of specific industries and specific professional domains where I have worked at semi senior/ senior levels. This helps me to mentor and counsel young professionals.

Along with my career, have also been involved in teaching/ mentoring/ counselling youngsters at various points over a decade.

All this has made me start on my current journey of becoming an entrepreneur, professional mentor and teacher. In the course of my career, have made a name for myself as a thorough professional and authority on relevant industries/ sector.

CAREER PROFILE

Have started my career as an Assistant Manager in 1994 and worked my way up to Corporate Director in 2016.

Have worked in 4 highly reputed iconic companies over the span of 22 years. Career includes 5 yrs + in Hindustan Unilever Limited and 14 yrs + in Tata Group with two of the most high-profile companies in the group, Tata Global Beverages Limited and Taj Hotels and Resorts.

Have worked in Core Finance/ Commercial Areas such as Business Development, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning/ Forecasting, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Commercial Management and Risk Assurance. Have also obtained key experience in Government Affairs, Coordination and Liaison which has made me evolve as an all-round advisor for Business issues.

Held a senior role in Commercial Management in building 4 hotels in my stint in Projects/ Business Development with a total spend of $ 14 Mn. The total inventory in these hotels was in excess of 840 rooms.

Held Profit Centre Responsibility in my stint as CFO of The Gateway Hotels where I held charge for 25 hotels and 5 group companies. Managed board matters periodically and internal/ external stakeholders such as shareholders, Investors, Govt.

Wide experience as a Deep Generalist having served as a Resident Director for Taj Hotels closely working with key Government Ministries and Industry Associations. These included Ministry of Tourism, Commerce, Agriculture, Telecom and Finance. The Industry Associations included Hotel Association of India, Federation of Hotels and Restaurant Association of India and Federation of Indian Export Organizations.

In all these associations, I have interacted at the topmost level and have been a key advocate for policy change and process change to benefit the industry.

Have held Power of Attorney for 14 companies and handled work for more than 85 hotels in India in my stint. The total value of foreign exchange handled by me has been around Rs 1200 – 1500 Crs every year.

In my past stints, have been a Corporate Accountant, a risk assurance manager, a regional finance manager and a unit Commercial Manager. Each of these roles has added to my learning and experience and left me changed for the better as a professional and as a person.

EDUCATIONAL PROFILE

Along with my career, have also been involved in teaching/ mentoring/ counselling youngsters for a decade.

Was associated with Tata Group CA Recruitment scheme and mentored young CAs/ TAS officers from 2007 to 2011. Interviewed more than 50 fresh CAs in these 4 years at various locations across the country.

Was also involved with a Tier I Business School in Delhi NCR as an Industry Mentor for 4 years from 2012 to 2016 where I mentored young MBA students and educated them on current industry practices, corporate norms and improved their skills to make them job ready. Each of my wards got placed and have placed on record their appreciation for my efforts to mentor and guide them.

Was also involved in the student intake of the next batch(es)where I interviewed more than 80 prospective candidates. Have also taken guest lectures on relevant industry areas.

Have also taught in a UGC recognised University for one year in 2016 where I combined academic duties with business responsibilities. Have taken lectures on relevant topics for BBA and MBA batches.

ACADEMIC PROFILE

Have studied in five schools all over the country (due my father’s career as a civil servant), finishing my studies in St Xaviers Collegiate School (Class XII) till 1988. My core subjects were Economics, Mathematics, Statistics and Accounting.

Thereafter, studied Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce passing out in 1991. My core subjects were Accountancy, Cost and Management Accountancy, Financial Management and Auditing.

Qualified Chartered Accountancy from India and Management Accountancy from the UK in 1994. Am currently a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
